Enabling researchers to find, read and cite your journal - sales and marketing
Maximizing access within the research community - We recognise that full rate library subscriptions represent the heart of your journal's community. Taylor & Francis invests great effort and time in ensuring that library renewal rates are as high as possible each year. Our success is remarkable.
In 2007, our average library renewals were 97.5% - more than 2% better than other major journal publishers. This reflects our highly effective Library Marketing team, proactive journal- and article-level Marketing, East Asian Sales strategy and agreeing consortia Sales only where they do not undermine core subscriptions. In addition, up to 9,500 research libraries worldwide can access our journals online through library consortia and EbscoHost.
High visibility in globalizing research networks - Articles still need to be seen by the right people. Our world class Marketing mixes tried and tested techniques with innovative new strategies, all tailored to the specific needs of your journal. We have built extensive promotional lists, mailing out 3,100,000 journal leaflets in 2008 and over 640,000 e-mails. Taylor & Francis journals were displayed at more than 1,000 conferences in 2007, often as part of a journal-specific reception or event. We maximize coverage in third party indexers such as Web of Science, MedLine and Google Scholar.
In addition, our Marketing has a new weapon in its armoury - SmartTargeting. One of the largely unanticipated consequences of the move to online publishing is that journal audiences have become more fluid and international. Our analytic tools track subtle shifts in audience and ensure that our titles are best positioned to benefit.
Currently, the global research growth hub is the 'East Asia 4' - China, South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan. Our journals are rolling out a range of initiatives to capture quality submissions and citations from these countries - and we will refine our endeavours as South Asia, Latin America and Africa come on stream in future decades. To find out more about the Special Terms for African Researchers initiative from Taylor & Francis visit www.tandf.co.uk/star.
Building reputation and quality metrics - We make it easy for researchers to find, read and cite your journal. This drives short term quality measures such as the Impact Factor and, over time, reinforces the reputation of your journal - the key to long term success.
'We believe the move to Taylor & Francis offers SGJ a dynamic and bright future under the banner of a company with a global reach and a healthy portfolio of journals allied to Geography. In terms of marketing and exposure, this allows SGJ to reach a much wider audience than before... All in all, these developments will help realize the potential of SGJ and we look towards a healthy future as part of the team at Taylor & Francis.'
