Instructions for Authors

This journal uses ScholarOne Manuscripts (previously Manuscript Central) to peer review manuscript submissions. Please read the guide for ScholarOne authors before making a submission. Complete guidelines for preparing and submitting your manuscript to this journal are provided below.
Manuscripts. All submissions should be made online at the Teaching Education ScholarOne Manuscripts site. New users should first create an account. Once a user is logged onto the site submissions should be made via the Author Centre.
Authors are invited to submit articles which might fit one of four broad headings:
- Research and Scholarship - critical and theory-based research, and scholarly reflections and debate on contemporary issues related to teacher education
- Course Descriptions - papers that describe innovative approaches in undergraduate and graduate teaching
- In the Field - innovative practices in K-12 classrooms linked to collaborations between college/university and schools
- Resource Review - annotations or reviews of scholarly works (print, multimedia, and web-based) instructional and professional resources for teaching education).
Papers should attempt to present research, course descriptions, innovative theoretical and/or practical insights in relevant current literature and debate. Articles should be typed in 12 pt, paginated and double-spaced with ample margins.
The title should not exceed 10 words (50 letters). Please prepare an abstract of 100 to 200 words. Contributors should follow guidelines for articles, and attempt to review teaching resources in relation to similar materials on the market, or books in terms of related and current literature and scholarly debate. Footnotes should be avoided and Endnotes kept to a minimum.
All pages should be numbered. Contributors should be aware that they are addressing an international audience. Jargon should be avoided and 'local' terminology clarified for an international audience. Authors should use non-discriminatory language. Articles should be original work, where appropriate should acknowledge any significant contribution by others, and should not have been accepted for publication elsewhere.
Tables and captions to illustrations. Tables must be uploaded as separate files and not included as part of the text. Tables and figures should be numbered by Arabic numerals. The approximate position of tables and figures should be indicated in the manuscript. Captions should include keys to symbols.
Figures.
We welcome figures sent electronically, but care and attention to these guidelines are essential as importing graphics packages can often be problematic.
- Figures must be saved individually and separate to text. Please do not embed figures in the paper file.
- Avoid the use of colour and tints for purely aesthetic reasons.
- Figures should be produced as near to the finished size as possible.
- All figures must be numbered in the order in which they appear in the paper (e.g. figure 1, figure 2). In multi-part figures, each part should be labelled (e.g. figure 1(a), figure 1(b)).
- Figure captions must be saved separately, as part of the file containing the complete text of the paper, and numbered correspondingly.
- The filename for the graphic should be descriptive of the graphic, e.g. Figure1, Figure2a.
- Files should be saved as one of the following formats: TIFF (tagged image file format), PostScript or EPS (encapsulated PostScript), and should contain all the necessary font information and the source file of the application (e.g. CorelDraw/Mac, CorelDraw/PC).
