Aims & Scope

Religion & Education is an international peer-reviewed journal of analysis and comment with the purpose of advancing public understanding and dialogue on issues at the intersections of religion, spirituality, and education.  As these issues emerge in diverse venues, manuscripts are invited from work in any such arena including: public and private education at elementary, secondary, or higher education institutions, non-school or community organizations or settings, and formal and informal organizations and groups with religion or spirituality and education as an integral part of their work. This journal continues the work begun in 1971 by the National Council for Religion and Public Education and the journal in its initial 1984 form, Religion and Public Education.

This journal does not address the work of formal religious institutions including churches, synagogues, mosques, and temples. Rather, it focuses on the beliefs and values arising from all traditions as they come into contact with educational work in the public square.

Published three times annually, each issue of Religion & Education contains articles and resource reviews that may include books, curricular materials, and web resources. Queries regarding resource reviews should be directed to jrae@uni.edu.

Peer Review Policy: All unsolicited manuscripts are peer-reviewed, first by the editor, then anonymously by two external referees from a panel of international scholars and researchers.
